How we work
The Pine Genome Initiative does not fund projects itself. It promotes pine tree (conifer) genomics by:
- Organizing the needs of the scientific community into a comprehensive genomic initiative
- Gathering a coalition of key people to raise attention and funding for genomic research
- Educating legislators on the benefits of putting new funds toward this research
- Increasing the availability competitive grants
- Giving international research organizations a mechanism to collaborate in this work
